MMRDA intends to develop a Metro Rail network of 150 kilometers in Mumbai city. The project is being implemented in 3 stages. In the first phase three corridors are being constructed, namely, Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar, Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd and Colaba-Bandra. The concession agreement for the Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd corridor has been singed recently and the soil testing for the same has also begun. A detailed study on the Colaba-Bandra corridor is in its final stage. Charkop-Dahisar and Ghatkopar-Mulund Metro Rail corridors will be developed in the second phase of the project. The third phase of the project includes Metro corridors from BKC to Kanjurmarg, Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E), Hutatma Chowk to Ghatkopar and Sewri to Prabhadevi.
