H1N1 hospital in TN shut after protest
Coimbatore: India’s first-ever exclusive hospital for treating H1N1 patients, set up by the Coimbatore corporation, was shut down even before its formal launch following angry protests from residents, who feared spread of the deadly virus in their locality if the hospital was allowed to function. Nearly one-third of Tamil Nadu’s over 2,000 H1N1 cases were reported from Coimbatore. The civic body’s hospital at Pappanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore, was being readied.
