Rains yes, but water cuts still a possibility

The intermittent rains might lead to more water cuts. On Sunday, the city received less rainfall. According to weather bureau officials, the rainfall at Colaba was 18.8mm and 9.2 mm at Santa Cruz.
But Met officials forecast heavy rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours. Catchments areas received marginal rainfall till 6am on Sunday. The lake levels of the six reservoirs on the outskirts are still low. "If the situation does not improve before July 5, we may have to take measures to curtail supply," a hydraulic department official said.
The municipal commissioner has asked people not to venture near the sea on Monday as a high tide of 4.10 meter is expected at 5.22 pm.
"The cloud imagery shows convective clouds over parts of east Arabian Sea and south Bay of Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh," an official said. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Konkan and Goa and at a few places in central Maharashtra and Marathwada over the next five days, he said.
