MONSOON BREAKS , CITY BREAKS DOWN

Waterlogged Wednesday The monsoon arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday as did waterlogging that caused traffic jams in many areas like Mahim causeway (above). Suburban rail services were running late. 36 flights were delayed. 

BMC, railways pulled up Chief Secretary D. Sankaran has summoned BMC and railway officials to find out why there were traffic jams and train delays. Earlier, municipal commissioner Johny Joseph had sent out SMS warnings on the downpour. 

Expect more rain today The met department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in Mumbai in the next 24 hours. Rainfall recorded on Wednesday was 73.2 mm at Colaba and 98 mm at Santacruz.
