Agreement
establishing the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme Done at Apia,
16 June 1993 Entered into force 31 August 1995
The full text of this treaty was provided by the Antarctic Cooperative
Research Centre (ACRC).
The purposes of SPREP are to promote co-operation in the South Pacific
region and to provide assistance in order to protect and improve its
environment and to ensure sustainable development for present and future
generations. SPREP shall achieve these purposes through the Action Plan
adopted from time to time by the SPREP Meeting, setting the strategies and

CONVENTION ON THE PREVENTION OF MARINE POLLUTION BY DUMPING OF WASTES AND
OTHER MATTER
Objective:
To control pollution of the sea by dumping, and to encourage regional
agreements supplementary to the Convention.
