Workshop on ISBEID held on 18th October, 2008 at IIPS, Mumbai

 

  

 

A workshop of Indian State Basic Environmental Information Database (ISBEID) was held on 18th October 2008 at IIPS, Mumbai funded by National Informatics Centre and Ministry of Environment and Forests. Ms Valsa Nair- Singh, Principal Secretary, and Government of Maharashtra inaugurated the workshop. The following organizations participated in the workshop.

ENVIS Secretariat has developed web enabled ISBEID software for State Government ENVIS centres to fill the collected data using web based online interface (with login and password authentication).  The software is being developed for preparation of the State of Environment Report, keeping in mind the objective and advantage of storing this data on a database to finally generate the national level report on India’s State of Environment. The GIS interface of the software is being developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC).

 

Dr S.P. Sharma, Statistical Advisor, Ministry of Environment and Forests explained the rationale of ISBEID, and Shri S.S. Gahlout, Senior Technical Director, NIC made a presentation of the ISBEID software and its interface with GIS.
