IWID

The Investing in Women in Development Fellows Program (IWID) gives mid-career professionals the opportunity to work in international development through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). While on assignment IWID Fellows integrate gender concerns in USAID’s Missions and Bureaus world-wide. The IWID program recruits technically experienced applicants from 4 specific sectors that USAID works in, namely economic growth, global environment, girl’s education, and democracy and conflict prevention. IWID Fellows come from a cross-section of different work environments: both public and private sectors, state and local government, and university settings. The program seeks applicants from these varied arenas and attracts a broadbase of Fellows that hold diverse and crosscutting expertise. Since the program began with IIE in 1999, most IWID Fellows have been placed in overseas Missions such as Armenia and Bangladesh; some also serve stateside within USAID/Washington. IWID Fellows have worked on such diverse issues as local watershed management, investor roadmaps for women entrepreneurs, democracy initiatives in Russia and the former Soviet Union, education curriculums in Afghanistan and much more.

Interactions of Society and the Environment Seminar Series

Goal of the seminar series: To provide a forum, balanced between both students and professionals, to discuss societal involvement in natural resource policy and decisions. Presentations will focus both on theory and methodology, as well as research findings and management implications. Ultimately, this series will serve as a catalyst for building stronger connections among natural resource professionals and students from Colorado State University, US Geological Survey, USDA Forest Service, and other natural resource organizations along the front range.
