About the Journal

 

Organization & Environment has been created to encourage informed discussion about the social roots and consequences of environmental problems and to stimulate deeper reflection on the meaning and significance of the natural world.

 

Organization & Environment brings into focus problems resulting from uneven global development and exploitative production and consumption. It provides critical frameworks for the analysis of problems resulting from relationships between the natural environment and bureaucratic, post-bureaucratic, technocratic, post-industrial, postmodern, networked, or virtual-type systems. Articles evaluate experimental practices aimed at building sustainable organizations and societies. The journal invites continual re-examination of assumptions held about the proper place of human beings in nature and focuses attention on human organization and organizing in relation to the natural environment. Special regular of the features journal include: commentaries on foundational works and citation classics; books and other media reviews; updates on and interpretations of environmental law; statements of political opinion; and, discussion of activism.
